Eastern Coalfields is planning to undertake a new coal mining project in Under Kajora Area, West Bengal, with a peak capacity of 0.25 million metric tonnes per annum and a leasehold area of 291 hectares. The project is estimated to cost Rs.382.81701213 million. As of March 2023, the company has obtained consent from the state pollution control authorities to establish the project, subject to compliance with the relevant regulations. Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, which is a government-owned coal mining corporation in India. ECL operates coal mines in West Bengal and Jharkhand. The company is headquartered in Sanctoria, Asansol, West Bengal, and employs thousands of people in its mining operations.
