Goa public works minister Nilesh Cabral said that PWD would begin the land acquisition procedure for the 7 km approach road to the proposed parallel bridge at Borim in Ponda next month. He claimed that the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has authorised the project and granted a budget of Rs. 305 crore for the yearly plan for the fiscal years 2021–2022. The PWD’s state national highway division put forth the bridge’s proposal in 2016. It will act as a detour from the problematic, three-decade-old bridge over the Zuari. In Murme ward of Borim, the new bridge will link Borim village in Ponda to Angadi, Loutolim, in Salcete.
