The four-lane wide section of NH-344A from Phagwara to Rupnagar is being built under a hybrid annuity method, according to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, at a cost of Rs 1,367 crore. In the hybrid annuity model, the developer makes the final investment after the government contributes 40% of the project cost to start work. According to a statement from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the 4-Lane wide portion of NH-344A that NHAI developed from Phagwara to Rupnagar will significantly improve Punjab’s road infrastructure. The section connects major cities Amritsar – Jalandhar – Chandigarh and extends mobility to Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ropar, and Mohali.
