BPCL, VoltUp to establish 650 battery swapping stations across 50 cities

In the next three years, the government-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) will install 650 swapping stations with more than 7,800 charging ports in 50 cities. VoltUp is a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) start-up. The business stated in a statement that it will deploy 150 battery switching stations across India in conjunction with BPCL by the end of next year. VoltUp debuted three battery swapping stations in BPCL retail locations in Mumbai. By this partnership, VoltUp will continue to revolutionise highly populated areas every 3–4 km with smart swapping solutions and, in 2023, will enhance its presence in Delhi NCR with over 50 stations and extend its reach across Mumbai with 40 stations at BPCL. “In the next 3 years, VoltUp and BPCL shall cover top 50 cities, including Delhi NCR, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Indore Surat, and Kolkata, among others, which contribute around 40 per cent of the automotive population,” the Mumbai-based firm said.
