The Maharashtra government intends to construct a drone hub and manufacturing cluster at Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in Aurangabad district, and has formed a committee led by Development Commissioner (Industries), Directorate of Industries.
Prime Minister NarendraModi inaugurated the 10,000-acre AURIC, the country’s first greenfield industrial smart city, in September 2019, as part of the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor. AURIC expects to generate three lakh jobs and global investments worth Rs 70,000 crore over the next ten years.
According to officials, the government received a proposal from Mumbai-based strategic think-tank Bramha Research Foundation to establish a drone hub and manufacturing cluster at Aurangabad’s AURIC.
