Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) won the contract to provide 6800 MT of head-hardened rails for the 11.38 km Red Line-9 and the 24.9 km Orange Line-5 of the Mumbai Metro (Dahisar East – Mira Bhayander).
According to Indian Railway Specification T-12-2009, these customised tracks for Package CA-159 will be 60E1 – 1080 grade and produced using a unique heat treatment procedure to increase strength, reduce residual stress, lengthen track life, and require little maintenance.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) issued a call for bids in November 2022, setting a 365-day deadline and a price range of Rs. 59,46,42,512.
