A senior corporate official from Vedanta subsidiary Hindustan Zinc (HZL) said that the company is building a 0.5 million tonne (MT) per year fertiliser manufacturing plant at Chanderiya in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district.
Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) and NPK fertilisers will be the main products of the facility, which is scheduled to be put into operation in the next two years. To build the fertiliser factory, which also includes a roaster plant, HZL would invest about Rs 2,500 crore.
According to Arun Misra, CEO of HZL, “The fertiliser factory will receive 60-70% of the raw material from our smelters and is planning to source rock phosphate from Rajasthan.” The remaining raw materials, he claimed, would be imported.
