The Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy R K Singh said that the total cost incurred  in construction of Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, till Nov 2022, was Rs.17,275.62 crore.

He was responding to a question raised by Rajya Sabha member Abdul Wahab in the Parliament.

R K Singh further said,”The tentative cost of repairing the damages to the construction works causedby floods during the year 2022 is expected to be in the range of approximately Rs.80 to 100 crore.”

“The Project remained stalled from December 2011 till October 2019 due to agitation by some sections of stakeholders & pressure groups, and hearing by the Hon’ble

National Green Tribunal (NGT). The lockdown during COVID-19 and the floods during August 2021, June 2022 and September 2022 also delayed the Project,” he added.
