The classic Luna two-wheelers from the 1970s were created by Kinetic Engineering (KEL), who
will soon begin manufacturing the necessary parts for an electric moped.
Luna would return in an electric form, Pune-based Kinetic announced in September. Kinetic
Green Energy and Power Solutions, a sibling company of KEL, will introduce the electric Luna, or
E-Luna.
All of the primary subassemblies for the electric Luna, including the main chassis, stands, and
swing arm, were created by Kinetic Engineering. It has established a special production line with
a starting monthly output of 5,000 sets.
A new line of more than 30 machines installed in an upscale shop at its sizable facility in
Ahmednagar will be used to weld various parts.
To meet the requirements, KEL has also invested over Rs 3 crore in upgrading its paint shop and
press and fabrication shops.
