Centre approves 1500-km Arunachal Pradesh frontier highway along LAC

Arunachal Pradesh now has a 1500-km two-lane Frontier Highway thanks to recent approval from the federal government.

The estimated cost of the highway, which will be built by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), is Rs 27,349 crore.

The route will be located near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), also known as the Chinese border, as suggested by its name. The road construction project is regarded as “one of India’s biggest and trickiest.”

The boundary dividing territory under Chinese and Indian control is known as the LAC.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister PemaKhandu said that, “very recently, MoRTH has approved sanction for the 1500 km Frontier Highway that would connect all the border areas of the state from east to west and interconnecting roads between the highways of about 1000 km.”
