The Punjab government is all set to install 300 megawatt solar power photovoltaic projects in the state.
The initiatives include 200 MW of solar power plants on canal tops and 100 MW of floating solar power projects on reservoirs and lakes.
The conference was presided over by Punjab’s Minister of New and Renewable Energy Sources, Aman Arora. The 200 MW canal-top project, according to Arora, will be implemented gradually. The first phase would see the completion of 50 MW, with subsequent phases seeing the completion of the remaining projects. According to the Punjab Energy Development Agency, projects will be carried out using the built, operate, and own (BOO) approach (PEDA).
Viability gap funding (VGF), which is offered by the Department of Economic Affairs of the Union Ministry of Finance under their plan, was brought up during the meeting, according to the minister.
