Jawaharlal Nehru port inks pact with JM Baxi

A concession agreement was signed between the central government-owned Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and J M Baxi Ports and Logistics Ltd to modernise, outfit, run, and manage its shallow water berth (SWB) and coastal berth (CB) terminals through public-private partnership (PPP).

According to J M Baxi company founder Sanjay Sethi, the SWB and CB terminals would be refurbished and controlled by a special protection vehicle (SPV) called “NhavaSheva Distribution Terminal Private Limited.”

One of the important ports owned by the Shipping Ministry is the Jawaharlal Nehru port.

Sethi added that at the conclusion of the 30-year concession period, the concessionaire must upgrade, furnish, run, maintain, and transfer the terminals.
