Shapoorji Pallonji constructs floating rig for ONGC’s KG Wells

A unit for ONGC to be used in the KG Basins has been created by Shapoorji Pallonji Oil & Gas, the sole domestic specialist company in manufacturing floating production storage and offloading units (FPSO) in the hydrocarbon business.

The FPSO, known as Armada Sterling V, was created at the Sembcorp Shipyard in Singapore in collaboration with the Bumi Armada group of Malaysia. The business and the Malaysian organisation are partners in a 70:30 joint venture.

This is ShapoorjiPallonji’s third FPSO for domestic waters and its fourth overall. Armada Sterling V, the oil and gas giant’s first deep-water development, will be deployed in cluster two of the ONGC KG98/2 Block off the coast of Vizag.

ONGC is investing more than $5 billion in this project, which also includes an FPSO, a process platform, and other facilities.
