The government has received investment commitments totaling Rs 4,115 crore and approved 42 companies for the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for telecom and networking equipment.
According to the ministry of communications, all businesses will receive incentives of 4-7% on additional sales of manufactured items, while 17 businesses that applied for a 1% extra incentive for design-led manufacturing will receive incentives of 5-8%.
Among them are Nokia, Samsung, Jabil, an associate of Ericsson, Flextronics, Tejas Networks, VVDN, and HFCL.
“It (investment) is expected to generate additional sales of ₹2.45 trillion and create additional employment of 44,000 over the scheme period,” the ministry said in a statement on Monday. “India is poised to emerge as a design and manufacturing hub for telecom and networking equipment.”
