GMR group-run Mopa airport in Goa gets DGCA’s aerodrome license

The new airport in Mopa, Goa, now has an aerodrome licence from aviation regulator DGCA, opening the door for the launch of commercial flight operations there soon.

According to a senior official at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the licence for the Mopa airport, which will be run by the GMR group, was issued on October 26. (DGCA).

In addition to the existing airport in Dabolim, Mormugao City, Goa will now have a second airport. In the northern region of Goa, the new airport will be about 35 kilometres from Panjim.

The Mopa airport is being built in four phases, with phase I having a 4.4 million passenger capacity and phase II having a 5.8 million passenger capacity.
