FCI invites bids for construction of Steel Silos

A call for bids for the construction of contemporary steel silos has been issued by Food Corporation of India (FCI).

The DBFOO (Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate) mode is to be used to manage projects.

Under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, the FCI intends to build 249 steel silos with a total capacity of 111.12 lakh tonnes at locations scattered across 12 states.

An investment of Rs 9,236 crore would be required.

The FCI would build 80 silos with a total capacity of 34.87 lakh tonnes in the first phase, dispersed over nine states and one UT.
