TN govt chooses 420 acres of land for construction of defence industrial park

Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran said that the Tamil Nadu government has chosen 420 acres of land in Vaarapatti village in Sulur, Coimbatore, for the construction of the defence industrial park.

Coimbatore, a centre for industrial activity in industries like engineering and textiles, is trying to take advantage of opportunities in fast-growing industries like defence and electric cars.

Sameeran stated that the State government recently issued an order for the acquisition of 420 acres to be given to Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation when referring to the planned defence park (TIDCO).

As per reports, the acquired land includes 409 acres of Dynamatic Technologies, 8.4 acres of Bhoomidhanland, and 4.17 acres of poromboke land. Apart from this, 140 acres has been identified in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts for another defence park and the proposal is with TIDCO.
