Alstom’s Mumbai metro line 3 successfully flagged for trial run

The Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro line 3’s first trainset delivered by Alstom was successfully trial-run by Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) (Aqua Line). Being 75% motorised, it is the city’s first driverless metro project and its operations are effective. It is also the first all underground metro project in the city.

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, and Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, along with Ashwini Bhide, the managing director of MMRC, signalled the start of the metro trainset’s test runs. For its first test run, the metro trainset travelled a three-kilometer route from Sariput Nagar in Aarey to Marol Naka.

Alstom is indigenously designing, manufacturing, and commissioning 31 lightweight, fully furnished modern passenger train sets of eight cars each (248 metro cars) for the 33.5-km long underground stretch of Mumbai Metro Line 3.
