Huntsman Commissions 180 KW rooftop solar facility at Chakan

As part of its commitment to establishing a sustainable and low-carbon economy to support carbon neutrality, Huntsman India, a manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals, has commissioned a 180 kilowatts (KW) rooftop solar facility at its cutting-edge polyurethanes manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune.

The solar installation is anticipated to provide 3,00,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, or roughly 60% of the plant’s total energy needs. Net metering, which maintains a balanced demand and sends extra power back into the grid, connects the system to the state-run electricity grid.

At Huntsman’s Chakan location, a 180 KW solar power plant will provide almost all of the day’s power needs. The system will utilise grid power and net metering.

“We are set to save thirty-five percent of energy cost with the installation of the solar facility. The project has been implemented with full adherence to environment, health and safety norms and commissioned in record four months. It is a critical milestone for us at Huntsman to achieve a sustainable energy led future and walk the path of green and clean environment,” informs Rahul Tikoo, MD, India Subcontinent, Huntsman International (India).
