Fourth runway of IGI Airport to become functional by 2023

The fourth runway at IGI Airport should be operational by the start of 2023. The Airports Authority of India Chairman Sanjeev Kumar stated that the last chores, which included calibrating and painting runway markings, will be completed by the end of this December.

The fourth runway should be operational by the start of 2023, he added.

In all of India, only IGIA will have four runways. The four runways at Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) can accommodate up to 14 crore passengers annually, which is more than double the 6.9 crore international-cum-domestic (both arrival and departure) numbers from the year before the 2019 pandemic.

This capacity study was recently completed by NATS, a UK-based air traffic management company.
