Modi inaugurates 2G ethanol facility in Panipat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the 2G (2nd generation) ethanol facility in Panipat, Haryana.

The government has taken a number of steps over the years to enhance the country’s production and usage of biofuels, and the dedication of the Plant is just one of them.

This is in line with the nation’s continuous initiatives to improve the energy sector’s accessibility, affordability, efficiency, and sustainability.

The 2G ethanol facility next to the Panipat refinery was built by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) for an estimated 900 crore.

By utilising roughly two lakh tonnes of rice straw every year to make nearly three crore litres of ethanol, the project, which is based on cutting-edge indigenous technology, would start a new chapter in India’s waste-to-wealth initiatives.

Farmers would gain more control if there was a final use for the agricultural crop leftover, which would also provide them a chance to generate more cash
